A youth forum was formed by the Bettws Communities First youth worker in February 2007 as it is one of the targets for the Bettws community and the WAG, it is for young people to establish a means to have a voice in their own community and youth affairs in addition to playing a full part in the work of Newport Youth Council and the Funky Dragon. On the first meeting, the young people came up with a name, Bet You Can! Which was the first three letters from Bettws and the first three letters from youth, and as we are a positive group, we put can.

This group have attended meetings at Monnow Youth & Community Centre also we have attended a youth council meeting at the Civic Centre where the young people expressed their views on a skate park and also a second welsh school coming to the west side of Newport.

About this website

When we received funding for this website we contacted Webber Design, a local design studio. They prepared a short course on graphic design for members of Bet You Can, where the members were introduced to ideas about logos, colours, typefaces and other graphic design issues. Over the course of 6 sessions, the members collectively designed the Bet You Can logo (see above) and contributed to the design of this site.
